Our Process
Our Chaff Mill
Annandale have chaff cutting technology which is unique to New Zealand. Dry steam is used during processing eliminating the risk of mould spores and dust mites by sterilising the raw product, it minimises leaf shatter which reduces dust and allows us to retain the whole leaf - this increases the nutritional value of our Chaff range. It is also important for helping prevent respiratory issues in horses. The dry steam breaks down the cell walls and allows the gelatinisation of starch to begin, increasing digestibility up to 18%.
We have done extensive testing with a major compound feed producer in New Zealand and have demonstrated conclusively that 100% elimination of mites is achieved with our process. This is why for most compound feed producers in New Zealand we are the number one choice for the supply of chaff used in their meal production
